Rajgir, 13 July 2026: The Nalanda District-Level Red Run 2026, a 5-kilometre awareness run, was successfully organized on 13 July 2026 at the sports ground of Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya, Rajgir, under the aegis of the Bihar State AIDS Control Society (BSACS). The event was organized by the Government Degree College, Rajgir, the nodal institution for Nalanda district, under the leadership of Principal Dr. Anand Prakash Gupta. The programme was coordinated by Ms. Pinki Arya, District Nodal Officer, Red Ribbon Club, Nalanda. The event also received valuable support from Mr. Vineet Shukla, Principal of Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya, Rajgir, and Mrs. Yashvi Pathak, Physical Education Teacher.
Students and National Service Scheme (NSS) volunteers from eight colleges across Nalanda district enthusiastically participated in the event. The participating institutions included Government Degree College, Rajgir; Kisan College, Bihar Sharif; Mahabodhi College, Nalanda; Nalanda College, Bihar Sharif; Nalanda Women’s College, Bihar Sharif; Vardhaman College, Pawapuri; R.P.S. College, Harnaut; and S.U. College, Hilsa. The primary objective of the Red Run was to create awareness about HIV/AIDS, promote a healthy lifestyle among young people, and encourage the elimination of stigma and discrimination associated with the disease.

Representing the Bihar State AIDS Control Society, Mr. Ashim Kumar Jha and Mr. Rakesh Kumar attended the programme as resource persons. They delivered informative sessions on HIV/AIDS prevention, the importance of timely testing, public awareness, and the need to eliminate discrimination and social stigma. They also encouraged the participating youth to spread awareness within their communities.

Following the successful completion of the competition, the winners were announced. In the Boys’ Category, Manish Kumar, Sudin Kumar, and Bipin Kumar (Government Degree College, Rajgir) secured the First, Second, and Third positions, respectively. In the Girls’ Category, Pooja Kumari (Mahabodhi College, Nalanda) won the First position, Sunta Kumari (Government Degree College, Rajgir) secured the Second position, and Preeti Rani (Nalanda Women’s College, Bihar Sharif) achieved the Third position.

The winners were honoured with medals, certificates, and prizes in recognition of their achievements. The programme concluded with the slogan, “Let Our Nation Be Free from HIV/AIDS—This Is the Message of Red Run,” and a collective pledge to build an informed, healthy, and stigma-free society.
